My BFG to EU
Design for Change
Second class worked very hard and took part in the Design for Change project where they carried out a project on ‘Fork Sustainability’ that aimed to reduce the number of wooden forks being used in the school. They gathered data by surveying the school community, looked at the information and designed a campaign to draw awareness to the negative impact of single use forks on our environment and the advantages to bringing a reusable fork. They designed posters and presented their findings to all the classes. They continued to survey and monitor the school community and gather data around fork use. They promoted and encouraged the school community to bring their own forks to school. They resurveyed the school community to see if it worked. They changed the thinking of the students in Crinkill NS and found their plan had worked! They were then invited to NUI, Galway to present their project and findings as part of the BFGtoEU (My Big Friendly Guide to the European Union).
